Ellie is 16 Months!

Wow she is getting so big!  This is crazy.  Here she is on St. Patrick's Day!  We are finally growing some decent hair but still not enough for a bow to really stay in there.

Ellie had her 15 month appointment this week even though she is now 16 months because some appointments got cancelled/pushed out along the way.  She weighed 19 lbs 9.5 oz (20-25% percentile) and has a height of 30" (20th percentile) so still a peanut but still growing well.  Both the nurse and doctor commented on how strong she was when they tried to examine her, she packs a big punch for a little lady!

Ellie is going through a separation anxiety phase I think, she has been attached to my hip for the past few weeks and freaks out when I try to leave her with Brian or anybody else (except for grandma).  She is fine with other people if I am still there and interacts well, but if I leave there is a lot of screaming and crying. Most of the time she cries if I am not holding her too, it is not good enough to be around me, she actually wants to be held most of the time.  Good thing she still doesn't weight too much!

She wants to walk everywhere now. I took her to the mall and didn't bother with a stroller because I knew she wouldn't want to stay in it - she liked to just hold my hand and walk up and down the ramps and stairs. I should have taken her to the mall more this winter when we were cooped up in the house for so long.  The bad part about her wanting to walk all the time is that I can't walk the dog with her out of the stroller, so this has become a challenge because she screams when I put her in the stroller.

I finished fully weaning her right after she turned 15 months.  At that point we were only down to her right before bed session.  So one night I just read her a few stories and put her to bed and she was fine.  I was so nervous she would freak out or wake up in the middle of the night, but she was fine.  For the next few weeks she would pull on my shirt and seem like she wanted to nurse so when she did that I would say "do you want some milk?" then give her some milk in a sippy cup.  That seemed to work well and now she doesn't pull on my shirt nearly as often.  I didn't get engorged at all - probably because I was down to just one short session when I stopped.  I like having the freedom to have Brian put her to bed and I am doing fine emotionally with it because it is nice to have a "break" before the new baby comes.  Although going right from fertility treatments to being pregnant with Ellie then nursing to being pregnant with baby #2 I definitely feel like my body hasn't been my own in many years.  I do feel lucky to have this problem though - being able to nurse Ellie for so long and then get pregnant right away is a true blessing. I do look forward to the time when I truly do have my body back though!

We are trying to encourage her to try to say words instead of her usual grunting and pointing.  She can say up, more, duck, hop and I think a few other words.

She had a great time visiting the Easter Bunny - as you can see she handled it pretty well!  We do an Easter Egg hunt with the little cousins on Easter so I am excited she can walk and participate this year!

13 Weeks

Please excuse my pajamas!  I am finding it much more difficult to remember to take bump pictures this time around.

How Far Along: 13 weeks 2 days

Total Weight Gain:  4lbs overall
Sleep: Sleep has been decent this week, but I find myself waking up at 5 am and not being able to fall back asleep.
Symptoms: Starting to feel hungrier!  It is nice that food has regained its appeal.  Some cramping.
Maternity Clothes? I started using the belly band because my work pants don't close anymore. I am still in some regular jeans because they sit low on my waist.  I need to ask my sister in law for the box of maternity clothes so I can wear the work pants if needed.

We told Brian's parents and his sister as well as my brother and sister in law this week.  Everyone seemed very excited and happy so that is great.  I was a bit hesitant to tell my brother and SIL because I think they have been trying for a baby for a while now and I didn't want to make them feel sad because I know how tough it can be to see people around you getting pregnant when  you have been trying and it isn't happening.  My plan is to not talk about the pregnancy a whole lot because let's face is - it is my second pregancy so it isn't nearly as big of a deal as the first one (to others, it will always be a big deal to Brian and I).

I also told my boss this week, I think he was surprised but happy for me.  He wanted to know if I knew what my "plans" were (ie if I am planning to come back to work) and I said as of now my plans are to come back to the schedule I have now (reduced hours).  Things might be different if we weren't putting a big addition on our house starting in like 2 weeks that will set us back a nice big chunk of change.  We will be moving in with my mom in a few weeks - which I am both excited and nervous about!  My 92 year old grandfather also lives with my mom so it will be a full house for sure!  Ellie adores her great grandpa though so it is nice that they will get to spend more time together.

Cravings: Lemonade and pickles.  Food in general.

 Next Appointment: April 3rd

12 Weeks and NT results

Here I am at 12 weeks.  The bump is starting to poke out a bit.

It was fun seeing baby #2 at the NT scan.  Looks like he/she is sucking her thumb, how cute! Heart rate was 147, I can't remember what Ellie's was at this point and I don't really buy into the sex = certain heart rate thing.  I keep wanting to refer to the baby as a "she" because I am so use to doing that with Ellie.  The baby was cooperative and we got all the measurements and the doctor said things look low risk which is a big relief at this point.
How Far Along: 12 weeks 2 days
Total Weight Gain:  4lbs overall
Sleep: I usually get up once at night to go to the bathroom.  Every few nights I can't sleep so I go downstairs and eat cereal.  This was my routine with Ellie too.
Symptoms: This past week I have been feeling pretty good. My appetite is back since the stomach bug passed.
Cravings: Lemonade and pickles.

11 Weeks 2 days

How Far Along: 11 weeks 2 days (sorry I need to start posting on the actual week date)
Total Weight Gain:  3lbs overall (although this was before I got the stomach bug this week so it might be less) I also took the picture above before I go the stomach bug because I do not currently look that happy!
Sleep: Some nights I am fine and sleep through, but others I have a really hard time. I am restless most nights.
Symptoms: Sour stomach, migraines.  The only time I have puked so far are the few times that I have gotten migraines.  Cramps, fatigue, acne.

I am starting to get excited to tell people about the pregnancy.  So far only Brian and my mom know!

Next Appointment: 1st trimester ultrasound is March 18th! 1 more week!

10 Weeks (well and 3 days)

I think I will start out with the categories that apply to me currently and add more as they make sense!
Here is me around 10 weeks with Miss Ellie doing what she does most of the time - cling to my legs, ha!  This is after a big dinner so I wouldn't say it is much bump versus bloat at this time.  I am in that phase when I wake up I can definitely tell I am pregnant, but by the end of the day the bloat is absurd!  My official due date is September 29th!
