31 Weeks

Finally got around to taking a bump pic!

How Far Along: 31 Weeks 2 Days
Total Weight Gain:  16 lbs overall
Symptoms:  Lots of insomnia for the most part.  Although I did really well while on vacation, so that was a good break.  Lots of crazy movement - it feels like she is moving my whole stomach from side to side most of the time!  Other than that I am actually feeling quite good for 7 months pregnant in this heat!  No swelling to speak of yet or heartburn so I hope that keeps up.  I get really full quickly so I have to eat small meals and I have to pee all.the.time.  Like I will pee, then 20 minutes later I am going again.

I had my OB appointment this morning and it went well.  I am measuring small based on the tape measure thing, but I figured that would be the case (she didn't tell me what the number was, but she said maybe the baby is laying flat or stretched out).  I will have an ultrasound with the MFM at 34 weeks to check her size.

Maternity Clothes? Yup.  I can fit into some non maternity tops, shorts and skirts but they don't always look quite "right" to me.  I feel like I have gotten stains on so many of my maternity shirts so i may have to spring for some new ones especially because all these ones are borrowed from family members and I am assuming they will want them back in decent condition!

New Baby Prep: Brian and I tried to talk about names this week while we were on vacation and we have 2 that we are pretty good with, but we tried to explore more names because of the 2 week like he is more into one and I am more into the other one. So we aren't really decided on a name yet.

House Update: We were hoping to get back from vacation this week to see a lot more progress made on the house, but that really didn't happen which was pretty depressing.  It was tough going from renting a nice house on a lake to sleeping in my mom's dining room, ha, a rude awakening for sure.  It still seems like we can't see the light at the end of the house tunnel yet and we are just trying to focus on getting through more decisions before the baby comes.  When I feel overwhelmed with both house and baby prep I just have to remind myself that both of these things are blessings and it will all work out well in the end!

Vacation was lots of fun up in Vermont - we swam, cooked dinners and visited lots of local attractions!

29 Weeks and Ellie update

How Far Along: 29 weeks  1 day
Total Weight Gain:  15 lbs overall
Symptoms:  Still getting the insomnia...I am thinking this is going to last until the end of the pregnancy.  It has been really hot and humid here lately and I am definitely feeling it now that I am pregnant.  I have been combating this by eating soft serve ice cream :)

Maternity Clothes? Yup

New Baby Prep: Nothing this week...I have started to think about the fact that we will still be in my mom's house when the baby comes so I am going to need some sort of temporary dresser to hold baby's clothes and something to change the baby on (I change Ellie on the floor on a mat now but I want an actual thing to change the new baby on.

I contacted a photographer that I like to get some info about a newborn/family session.

House Update: The foundation is pretty much done and the lumber was delivered for framing, so that is all very exciting.  We are going on vacation next week (we rented a house in Vermont on a lake so I am excited to see a whole week's house progress when we get back.  Usually we stop by every day so progress seems slower.

Last year when we went to New Hampshire for a week we took 2 cars just for the 4 of us (we WAY over packed) so this year I am determined to pack light and fit it all into 1 car.  We shall see how this goes!  So if I don't post an update next week it is because I am going internet free!

And now some pictures! Ellie is obsessed with her big cousin Addie (who will be 4 in September) and says her name like 123023829382 times a day.  Here she is attempting to ride Addie's scooter in the park.

Since I don't seem to be doing a separate Ellie post anymore I will share some info about Ellie here!
Ellie had her 18 month pediatrician appointment last week (even though she is now 19 months) and she is about 21 lbs and 31.5"  Her height and weight are both around the 25-30th percentile!  She has come a long way from being under the 1st percentile for both at birth!

Her hair looks almost blondish in some light - in person it is a light brown. She is still very much in her "mommy" stage and often screams when I try to leave her with daddy even for short periods of time.  She has had a major speaking explosion the last couple of weeks.  She can say more words than I can count and is really good at repeating words back to you.  She says a few two word combos now too.  It is exciting to hear her tell me when she wants something specific like milk or cheese.  She still gets a bit frustrated that she can't communicate everything though.

We got a few "big sister" and "I'm getting a baby sister" type books that we are trying to read to her to get her ready for the new baby, but really she doesn't full comprehend the whole concept yet.

28 Weeks

Hello 3rd Trimester!

How Far Along: 28 weeks  1 day
Total Weight Gain:  14-15 lbs overall
Symptoms:  Insomnia.  I am back to waking up at some point between 2-4 am for an hour or two.  I usually get by ok during the day but sometimes hit a wall and get pretty tired.  Belly button is pretty much an outie now!  My boobs feel like they are swelling up a bit more, I wouldn't be surprised if I find some leaking occurs soon.  It is starting to get tricky to reach my feet to put on shoes.  Baby movement has been crazy lately.  Sometimes I feel like she is going to bust out of my tummy!  I love the rolling feeling of the kicks but sometimes the "jabs" hurt!

Had my OB appt last week and it went well.  Looks like I am probably going to measure behind a bit again this pregnancy because my stomach was measuring a 25 and I am 27 weeks, but the nurse didn't seem concerned and they wanted me to have a growth scan at the MFM at 34 weeks anyway.

Maternity Clothes? wearing a lot of dress/skirts now because it has been pretty hot!  Amie - I did rock the bikini at the beach this weekend, but only when I went in the water - i mostly wore a light cover up while on the shore :)
I just realized I wore this same dress in my 26 week picture, but hey - i don't have that many options and I really like this dress!

New Baby Prep: I got a baby k'tan carrier and some sleep sacks/swaddles from our town facebook yard sale site.  This is my new favorite place to find baby deals!  Some of the swaddles are blue, but i don't think she will notice!  I got 1 newborn, 2 small and 1 large fleece that Ellie can wear over the winter.  I didn't want to buy a new k'tan carrier because I wasn't sure how much I would use it and I already have a bjorn and borrowed my SIL's ergo...I just wanted a wrap one for when she is really little.

I started to make my hospital bag list.  I am a big list maker, even though I won't start packing in for probably 2 months, I feel better just having a list.  At my OB appt this past week the nurse asked me if i was going to take any baby prep classes.  I was like "ummm no, they didn't really teach me much I didn't already know from reading the first time!"  It hasn't completely set in that I will be giving birth again...I am just hoping for a shorter process this time around.  From the time of the first dose of medicine until she was born, it took 50+ hours for Ellie!  Let's keep this show to under 24 this time please!

House Update: So.much.work.  We must have 2 meetings a week and answer 20+ emails regarding the house.  We currently still only have the foundation in place and I am really hoping for some framing progress this week.

But on to more fun things...pictures!  These are from the 4th of July when we went to Cape Cod!

27 Weeks

How Far Along: Almost on time this week!  27 Weeks 1 day.
Total Weight Gain:  Scale looked a bit lower today - looks like I am up 13 lbs overall.
Symptoms:  Crazy fingernail growth, needing to pee all the time, insomnia.  Insomnia is rearing it's ugliness again!  Previously I would wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to get back to sleep but now I have trouble falling asleep to begin with.  Luckily an episode or two on Netflix tired me out and I usually get to sleep after that.

Maternity Clothes? Mostly!  I am going to cape cod this weekend for 4th of July and my big dilemma is should I wear my maternity swimsuit (black, strapless) to the beach or go bikini.  I am normally a bikini wearer and am not a huge fan of the maternity 1 piece, but I don't know if i have the guts to let my baby belly out to play this weekend!

New Baby Prep: We went down to IKEA this weekend and picked up a new crib.  Ellie is still using her crib and doesn't look like she will be out of it for a while (hasn't tried to climb out yet) so we will keep her in her old crib and convert it to a toddler bed when she is ready.  We didn't want to buy another large expensive crib for the new baby (poor second baby syndrome already) because we don't know how long we will need 2 cribs in our house.  The crib is still nice though, we have an IKEA crib at my moms that Ellie has been sleeping in and it is great! Sadly we won't be able to set up a space for the new baby until our house is done which will be a month or two after she is born.

House Update: We have the foundation in the ground which is nice because we can sort of see how big the space will be.  Next week they are supposed to start framing which will be really neat.  Please note: putting an addition on your house is like a second job. We have been working on it for about a year and a half now from the beginning of planning and there is always so much to do!  This week Brian is on "vacation" and he is meeting with landscapers to figure out which trees to take down as well as constantly monitoring the work site to make sure things are going as planned!  I am sure it will be great when it is done but right now it is hecticville!

I am heading into my 2 busy weeks of work so I am looking forward to a small break this weekend for the 4th and then a long week off closer to the end of July!
